Expansion Joints

KLINGER IGI, Inc. has a wide selection of rubber, metal and fabric expansion joints. KLINGER IGI, Inc. expansion joints are typically installed between the anchor points of piping/ductwork, flue duct joints, or next to mechanical systems. Our expansion joints are specified to absorb pipe movement/stress, compensate alignment/offset, eliminate electrolysis action, isolate mechanical vibration, protect against start-up/surge forces and reduce system noise. Metal Gaskets

Spiral Wound Gaskets provide considerable mechanical strength, good recovery characteristics and are extremely effective over a wide range of operating conditions. They are designed for high specification sealing requirements. Our Spiral Wound Gaskets are manufactured with an outer guide ring and a complex spiral winding strip filled with various sealing materials. These 2 components combine to form a seal that withstands high fluctuating temperatures and pressures. The outer ring rests on flange bolts thus locating the gaskets centrally on the raised face of the flange. This supports the sealing element and resists 'blow-out'. The Inner Ring is added to minimize contact between corrosive fluids. Standard sizes range from ½ inch to 24 inch. Specials sizes can be custom made to specific requirements. Solid Metal Gaskets are available as both shim packs and individual gaskets and can be manufactured using the latest water jet or laser cutting technology. They are available in Brass, Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper, Aluminum and laminated materials. The size and shape of shims range from small, simple items to the large and complex and we can support either small or high volume requirements. Principally used in conditions of elevated temperature and pressure, they are not problematic, provided good fitting practices are followed. Typical applications are:

Ring Full Face Joint Gaskets are applied to special accompanying flanges that ensure good, reliable sealing with the correct choice of profiles and material. Oval and octagonal Ring Joint Gaskets are designed to accommodate flat bottom groove flanges and can be used on 'older' round bottom type flanges. Octagonal joint rings provide better sealing performance and are used on standard ring joint flat bottom grooves. Ring Joint Gaskets can be used for very high and/or alternating pressure depending on the profile. Typical applications are:

Packing

KLINGER IGI, Inc. supplies standard and custom packing which is typically used for valves in the field, or to make die formed packing sets. Die formed packings are pre-cut, pre-densified and custom sized to your exact dimensions, thus allowing the sets to be installed faster and seat better. Pre-compressing the ring sets distributes mechanical pressure along the entire sleeve evenly. This in turn helps ensures longer equipment life and reduce costly repair and replacement of pump sleeves or shafts. Typical applications are:

Rubber Products

An extensive range of natural and synthetic rubber is available in sheet or roll form for conversion into gaskets or strips.
Commercial Rubber Sheeting is manufactured in many thicknesses for applications demanding tear and strength considerations.
Butyl (Isobutene) has very good weathering resistance and has a lower gas permeability than any other rubber. A good temperature range from -65°C to +120°C.
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) has excellent ozone, chemical and ageing characteristics. EPDM features high tensile strength and high heat resistance and is good with low temperature properties. It's resistant to ketones, ester based solvents and some hydraulic oils. It can have poor resistance to petroleum based fluids and mineral oils.
Natural Rubber (Isoprene) is perhaps the best known of all rubbers and has excellent abrasion resistance, tensile strength and resistance to water. It is also considerably cheaper than most synthetic rubbers and withstands temperatures up to 80°C.
Neoprene Rubber (Chloroprene) is the most widely known of the synthetic rubbers. It has good weathering properties and a greater heat resistance than natural rubber. Neoprene shows very good resistance to oil, but not the best for water.
Nitrile Rubber (Butadiene) has excellent resistance to petroleum based fluids including petroleum based solvents. High and low temperature performance is good up to 80°C. Good resistance to water. Chemical resistance is poor.
Viton® (Fluoropropylene Vinylidene Fluoride)is an excellent high temperature resistant rubber particularly in air and oil environments. Resistant to temperatures up to 200°C. Very good chemical resistance.
